Condoleezza's Cowboys
(Words © Pete MacGregor, tune Stan Jones)

As I roved out the stars were bright, the moon was shining clear.
I felt the flight of the owl in the night as it cut the winter air
Then swooping down across the field, black shadows filled the sky;
I turned around; no place to hide; I heard their dreadful cry.

Guantanamo, Guantan-i-ay.
We're Condoleezza's cowboys
Riding your way.

Texas has been emptied out, there's nothing left below.
We have to search the world for oil to prop up Texaco
We don't care what it costs to drill, we'll fight to keep it still
That when we want a dollar's oil, we can print a dollar bill.

We've cracked the crude from Shetland's shores; we burned it in our cars.
You may think the North Sea's yours but we're so big it's ours.
No matter where you cast your vote for oil you're bought and sold.
Your leaders a' think nothing more than fighting for black gold.

The man up in the White House says "Remember who I am.
Although your badge may bear a crown, you work for Uncle Sam.
You're the U.S. foreign legion, for us you fight and die.
Some day soon we'll hear you sing our song up in the sky."
